What is AcademicBookTrade.co.uk?
AcademicBookTrade.co.uk is based in North
London and is owned and run by Jane and Mark Plumbley, both of
whom work for Colleges of the University of London. Mark, a lecturer
in electronic engineering, manages the technical side. Jane deals
with the business and marketing side: before moving into Higher
Education marketing, she worked in academic publishing sales
and marketing for 10 years.
There is always a need for books and information:
AcademicBookTrade.co.uk has been set up to give you an easy way
of putting your used books back into circulation: if you don’t
want them any more, let them circulate and make you money at
the same time, rather than sit unused in cupboards or on shelves.
And when you want to buy an academic book, look on AcademicBookTrade.co.uk
and save yourself money by buying from other students, academics
or second-hand bookshops that specialise in academic books.
AcademicBookTrade.co.uk is a listing and information
service only. We are there to put buyers and sellers of academic
books in touch with each other, but we are not a bookshop, and
we do not get involved in transactions between buyers and sellers.
Who is it for?
Anyone 18 or over who wants to buy or sell
second-hand academic books and wants to reach a large, dedicated
marketplace of other people who also want to buy and sell academic
books.
Students
Remember the booksale you found out about 3 days after it had happened?
Now you can find the books you need any time at second-hand prices,
available from across the UK academic community, and sell the books
you’ve finished with at the same time. Making money and saving
money at the same time. The more students that use this service,
the more books you will have to choose from when you want to buy,
and the more customers you will have when you want to sell. So
if you think it’s a good idea, please use the Email This Page to
a Friend option which you’ll find on every page.
Academics
This site will give you access not only to the academic stock of
some of the best second-hand bookshops around the country, but
also to books from individual collections. And if you have books
you no longer want, you can sell them here too. If you would like
to help your students both make and save money on their books,
please put a link to our site from your Departmental website, and
email them with the information. If you’d like posters and postcards
to display and give out, we’ll be happy to send you some. Please
request them via our enquiry form using the Request Literature
option.
Second-hand Bookshops
Our dedicated site is highly targeted specifically to attract just
the people who will buy your academic books. To find out how we
can help you and about our introductory FREE offer to bookshops,
